Innovation Meets Public Safety & Security: Exchange with Winterthur City Police

In a time when public safety demands ever greater responsiveness and flexibility, the integration of autonomous technologies is becoming a key enabler for modern police forces. The LINA team had the opportunity to visit the Winterthur City Police to exchange ideas on future collaboration in the field of autonomous systems, drones, and robotics.

The Winterthur City Police expressed strong interest in innovative applications ranging from improved situational awareness during emergency operations to support in routine tasks. Together, both sides explored potential use cases and how such technologies could be safely and effectively integrated into existing processes.

LINA allows police forces to test aerial, ground, and hybrid autonomous systems in realistic scenarios, such as crowd monitoring, search operations, or perimeter control without disrupting daily urban life. Supported by expertise in risk assessment and regulation, and guided by the new State Aviation Ordinance that provides the legal framework for UAS operations for security forces, these trials help deliver validated concepts ready for deployment.

This collaboration marks an important step for LINA and the Winterthur Police, working jointly toward practical solutions that enhance both safety and innovation right in the heart of Winterthur, a city widely recognized as a hub for technology and innovation.
