Outdoor Test Area

Located at the glider airfield of Winterthur Hegmatten, the LINA outdoor test area provides a dedicated space for testing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), UAS accessories, and ground-based systems. With a wide range of operational scenarios, the facility supports test flights in the open category. LINA works on the continuous improvement of the test site to enable more complex operations in the specific category, including EVLOS (Extended Visual Line of Sight) and BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) in the near future.

  • Easily accessible by car and public transport
  • Operation center with power supply and sheltered area for equipment
  • Flight area includes a 700x30m grass runway and two 150x4m asphalt strips
  • Possibility to perform tests of all types of UAS (multicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, tilt-wing, and gyrocopter systems).
  • Testing in open and specific categories.
  • Flight area can be defined depending on specific needs and risks (EVLOS and BVLOS are soon possible).
  • Various equipment is available for usage (such as various tools, first aid equipment, external lighting etc)
